What's new — the drive

A new way to drive.

The biggest change isn't a number on a spec sheet — it's how the Pro 60V handles. The motor manages power for you, from a standstill all the way to the bottom of a hill. Nothing to set up, nothing to learn, nothing to maintain.

01
Controlled descent on hills

Going down a grade, the motor holds the truck back and governs your speed — so you're not riding the brake the whole way down, loaded or empty.

02
Smoother acceleration

Power ramps in cleanly off the line instead of jumping. Creeping through a gate or easing up to a trailer is precise and predictable.

03
More power, softer when you want it

The full 1,200W is there when you ask for it — but the throttle stays gentle when you don't, for a lighter hand on finesse work and full muscle for the haul.

04
Nothing to update

It's set at the factory and sealed. No app, no wifi, no port to plug into, and no way for anyone to push a change to your truck — including us. What it does the day it arrives is what it does in year ten.

Built for more

The upgrades that matter.

01
More power on tap

A 1,200W motor on a 60V system pulls noticeably harder on hills and under load than the 48V All-Terrain.

02
Goes farther

About 18 miles on a single battery — roughly 33 with the dual-battery build — for bigger properties and longer days.

03
Ready for gear

Integrated 2-inch front receiver, a MOLLE panel for mounting accessories, USB-C and USB-A ports, and a tighter ~8 ft turning radius.

Pro 60V vs. All-Terrain

The step up, side by side.

The Pro 60V is built on the same proven frame as the All-Terrain — same footprint, same half-ton payload. What changes is everything around it: more power, motor-controlled hill assist, and fitment for gear out of the box.

Overview

The next StepRanger platform. The Pro 60V takes the frame proven on properties, ranches, and jobsites and adds real muscle: a 1,200W motor, a 60V battery system, and a drive that holds the truck back on descents and eases power in off the line. Same 1,000 lb workhorse — now with more power, more range, and a smoother, more controlled feel.

What's new vs. the All-Terrain

Beyond the upgraded drive, the Pro 60V adds an integrated 2" front receiver hitch, a tighter ~8 ft turning radius, a MOLLE panel on the rear cargo divider for mounting gear, a pre-drilled rear step for the zero-turn mower attachment, USB-C and USB-A charging ports on the battery box, and a powder-coated finish offered in five colors.

Nothing to update. Ever.

The hill-hold and controlled descent are handled by the motor controller — a sealed unit in the battery box that regulates current between the battery and the motor. It's set at the factory, and that's the end of it. No app, no wifi, no cell connection, and no port to plug into. There's no way to push a change to your truck, not by a dealer and not by us. What it does the day it arrives is what it does in year ten.

That thinking runs through the whole machine. Standard 12V batteries you can buy anywhere, no proprietary parts, no subscription, and no dealer network standing between you and the people who built it. If something breaks, it's hardware — and we ship you the part.

MOLLE-compatible accessory panel

The rear cargo divider — the panel between the bed and the operator — is a laser-cut MOLLE field built to the PALS standard: 1" slots on 1.5" horizontal and 1" vertical spacing. That means it accepts off-the-shelf MOLLE and PALS accessories — pouches, tool rolls, bottle holders, straps — not just our own. A StepRanger-branded MOLLE accessory bag is in development.

What carries over

It shares the All-Terrain's proven frame, wheel spec, and dimensions — the same 1,000 lb payload, fold-down sides for easy loading, variable-speed twist throttle, forward and reverse, and dual disc brakes. Front coil-spring suspension on a pivoting solid axle absorbs uneven ground at the front wheels; the rear axle is rigid.

Performance

Top speed of 15 mph and a 1,000 lb hauling capacity. Single-battery range is about 18 miles; the dual-battery upgrade roughly doubles it to about 33 miles.

Range is an engineering estimate — one rider, firm ground, 15 mph. Real range varies with load, terrain, and temperature: figure 13–23 miles single (23–43 dual) depending on conditions, and roughly half under a 500 lb load. Ground surface moves it the most.

Not included — the winch

Some photos on this page show a winch mounted to the front. The winch is not included with the truck.

It's sold separately as the StepRanger 60V Winch Kit — a 3,000 lb winch we built specifically for this truck. It runs natively on the Pro 60V's 60V system, so there's no step-down converter and no custom wiring, and it bolts straight onto the winch mounting plate already built into the frame below the front receiver hitch. No drilling, no fabrication.

Every Pro 60V ships with that mounting plate, so the truck is winch-ready whether or not you add one. The kit is $300 and available to pre-order now — add it under Your build above, or order it on its own. Estimated shipping: second half of November 2026. It's a customer self-install; we don't fit it at our warehouse. Questions: call (707) 329-4442.

Configure yours with a single or dual battery and stock or snow & mud tires. All StepRangers ship fully assembled and crated by LTL freight with liftgate service at delivery, from our fulfillment center at 833 Hwy 116 S, Sebastopol, CA 95472-4552.

Step Ranger Delivery and performance

It could have been perfect except the delivery process. The rear right hand tire is flat when I opened the box, hard to come out the pallet. Problem is to fix the tire but no means to do that, end up buying set of wheels just to get off the pallet. Time and money? This is a result of poor packaging, one of the nail to make the pallet or the process of packaging somebody did not notice a nail sticking out that hit the tire during delivery process

The Step Ranger was exactly what I was looking for!

The Step Ranger was exactly what I was looking for! I ran it through the paces moving almost 1,000 pounds of pay dirt at a gold mine. It worked as advertised. It had no problem climbing 8% grade in low gear. The six speeds really was advantages.

Used it the first time today

Used it the first time today and it is just what the doctor ordered. Still getting used to it but what a work horse. I have almost 3/4 of an acre and the back is mostly forest and sloped. Carried everything I need to weed eat .

My new pack mule...

Off to a great start. I purchased my StepRanger to move materials up and down a very steep slope down to my dock. This machine climbs like a pack mule and the low gear just crawls down the hill with a heavy load. I used the plywood from the crate to box in the sides and have used my receiver hitch extension to load long boards.

Great step saver!

A friend showed me the StepRanger website a couple of months ago. After looking at other alternatives I decided to purchase one. I live on two acres and am always pushing a wheel barrow around with down branches, pine straw bales, plants, etc. The StepRanger is a great time saver and step saver. I purchased the optional brackets to add wood sides for hauling soil or mulch.

Great equipment. Well thought out design.

This in not a toy!! It is a serious tool to get more done with less effort. It in nice but not frilly. I have loaded it down pretty good and it handles it very well. Actually drives better with a load. I am in my seventies and live on a farm so things are spread out. This helps a lot not having to lug power tools, garden tools or lawn tools. I've put a couple of big tubs of dirt in it to so some leveling in a hard to access area. The front and side rails fold down and the deck height is low enough to be less strenuous to lift whatever you want to carry. Really nice to be able to put it in low gear when trying to maneuver into or out of a tight space. My dumpster is a half mile from the house and this cart makes it very easy to take the trash. Makes the day easier. I had some questions and a slight issue when delivered but the customer service is great.

I love my StepRanger

I have read most of the StepRanger reviews already on the website and feel that they really don't need another glowing one, but want to do so anyway, so here goes.

I love love love (did I say love?) my StepRanger. You will too.

My story. I was thinking about buying a house at the beach. I love to catch (and eat) crab. For reasons not relevant here I did not want beachfront property, so I found a house with legal beach access several hundred yards away. I wasn't going to buy the house unless I could find a practical way to get my boat and gear and crabs and water buckets etc. to and from the house and the beach. I researched and researched, as I wasn't going to buy the house unless and until I could solve this problem.

Then I stumbled upon the StepRanger. It seemed nearly perfect, but I had questions. So I e-mailed owner John. He answered promptly, directly, and honestly. He sugar coated nothing. I had additional questions. John answered. I had annoyingly more questions. John answered. Satisfied, I bought (1) the house near but not on the beach and (2) my very own StepRanger All-Terrain utility vehicle, counting on it to satisfy all my needs.

It did. I have now used my StepRanger for an entire crab season. It is as close to perfect as it could be. It is tough, resilient, POWERFUL (watch that torque!!!), easy to operate, has incredible battery life, and appears to be durable (only years will tell). It haul my pots and motor and crab and water and all the accompanying gear, and effortlessly tows my 10' Livingston boat to and from the beach.

All favorite vehicles require names, and I have named mine. My daughter went to Rwanda and had a memorable and wonderful driver named Shitowa (pronounced "Shih-toe-ah"), who had a variety of utility vehicles. So I have christened my StepRanger Shitowa, pronounced "****-tow-ah," because it's a REAL "****-towa" (use your best Boston accent here and you'll get it).

Since I don't want to appear to be too much of a FanBoy, I will say that I think they need to (re)design it so that either it can be operated with the tail-gate and side-gates hanging down, OR make them easier to take off and put back on (quick release somehow?). But this is a small matter, a mere quibble, a throw-away constructive criticism. All new products can use (some) improvement, right?

So go out and get yourself your very own StepRanger if you have a need you think it will satisfy. You will be very pleased.

I don't know if I will be able to label my individual photos so I will say here that they are related to the fun and joy that the StepRanger brings. It is awesome. These photos would be impossible without it.

Finally, I will say that if you DO do the right thing and get yourself a StepRanger, when it arrives, as excited as you will be to uncrate and start using it, PAUSE to put on a pair of gloves, as the instructions recommend (numerous times). (See if you can find in the photos the result of NOT wearing gloves.)

Boat Yard workhorse!!

I purchased a StepRanger for my husband to use at work, he works at a boat yard in DowEast Maine. He absolutely loves his StepRanger and the customer service has been excellent (he needed to call for one issue and he was given instructions on how to successfully fix it on the first call). He hauls his tools around from boat to boat and can also load all of his scuba gear and bring it to the dock from our garage. Its been a very helpful tool in making his work more efficient and easy.

My beach is clean all the time now!

My beach is weed free all the time now! I hated cleaning the beach, it was such a hassle, wheelbarrowing the weeds to my car, hitching the trailer, loading the weeds into the trailer, driving the long way to the compost pile. With my stepranger, it's fast, fun, easy and convenient to load the weeds, and drive to the compost. It's awesome.

Excellent customer service from StepRanger

Excellent customer service from StepRanger. The StepRanger has made my property upkeep much easier. Our property has plenty of steep areas and hauling brush cuttings has been enjoyable with the StepRanger. Plenty of power, range and quality all in one machine. No more fueling of mower to haul debris! Thanks

I live and work on a mountain made of gargantuan boulders

I live and work on a mountain made of gargantuan boulders, decomposing granite and wildfires.

This thing is very fit for purpose. It seems to be over-built for anywhere without uncompromising rocks and boulders. Brakes, power and suspension have been sublime. The front wheels have a coil suspension that works nicely. Standing on the rear step and holding the handlebars allows my natural equilibrium to perform. Getting to take a ride for a thousand feet, whilst it’s 95°, to get that tool I need has been awesome.

My 15 acres is seriously uneven. Vehicles would be impractical. A rollover of a UTV would be likely and uncomfortable (painful). This thing is something which I could jump from, to safety. A gas engine would be noisy and potentially incendiary, with undesirable maintenance.

I have an electrical wheelbarrow that works great for moving and dumping weight. I do need to walk and lift to balance it on its axle. The StepRanger allows me to have landscaping equipment with me and load it with brush, dirt, gravel and rocks. It climbs serious grades and has capable brakes.
I like that it seems like the designer/engineers knew what they wanted and it aligns with what I want.

I appreciate that the batteries are straightforward and can be replaced with non-bespoke units when end of life occurs.

I replaced the existing side panel cotter pins, that are strong, with cotter clips that are less strong but easy to remove. I clamped an umbrella for shade of my noggin. I utilized the wood shipping crate to make gravel sides for the side panels (it’d be cool if there were marks to cut down the crate for panel sides). The “headlight” is not super useful, as the light hits the ground about eight feet in front and aims from the turning handlebar that’s at the back of the rig. A headlamp solves this issue. I’ll probably mount some lights on the front.

I’ve named it “The Mule”. Customer service responses were lightning fast. I feel anything I break on this thing, because of me, I could cobble a fix.

We all love our new StepRanger

For years, I’ve hauled my garden tools around in a very large wagon. Then I saw the StepRanger and knew it was exactly what I needed. We’ve had our StepRanger about a month now and I can truly say it’s made life so much easier and more fun! My husband ordered it for me. It arrived within a few days in a very sturdy wood crate. Hubby and son found the delivery and unpacking quick and easy. My hubby, son and grandson have used it to haul 2 tons of pellets, the chain saw and tools for cutting wood and the split wood to our son’s truck. I’m loving it for carrying my tools around our 1 acre yard when I do yard work. Their customer service is great. I called and requested a new latch cover. John ordered it for me while we were talking on the phone. The 5 John ordered, along with a StepRanger keychain arrived within a few days. We would all highly recommend this to anyone interested in buying one.
