Welcome to the StepRanger family! Below you’ll find everything you need to get started, operate safely, and keep your StepRanger running strong.
🔧 Getting Started
Handlebar Setup
If your StepRanger arrived by freight, the handlebars may be folded forward for protection. To adjust:
- Remove the plastic column cover by unclipping both sides
- Loosen the bolts and set handlebars to a vertical position
- Retighten bolts and snap the cover back into place
Battery On/Off Switch
Located on the left underside (driver’s side), just outside the battery box. Make sure it’s toggled ON before use.
Ignition & Lights

Insert key and turn:

One click: Powers on with driving ring light

Two clicks: Full headlight + driving power

One click: Powers on with driving ring light
🔋 Battery & Charging
Battery Location: Left-side battery box
Charging Port: Left side under the bed
Charger: Stored in the right-side compartment
Charging Instructions
- Plug charger into a standard 110V outlet
- Connect the charger to the left-side port
- Charge fully (typically overnight)
Note: If you do not have the dual battery upgrade, the right-side port is inactive, but pre-wired for future expansion.
🎮 Operating Controls
- Throttle: Right handlebar grip
- Speed Selector: Toggle between Low / Medium / High (can be changed while driving)
- Forward/Reverse: Rocker switch near throttle (only switch directions while stopped)
- Gear Selector:
- Right (High Gear) – Normal speed mode

Left (Low Gear) – High torque, slow speed
Steering Limit Adjustment
Bolts behind each front wheel limit the turning radius. To adjust:
- Loosen the nut on the stop bolt
- Reposition it evenly for symmetrical steering
- Tighten the nut securely
🛑 Braking & Safety
Brake Lever: Located on the left handlebar
Includes a parking lock that disables throttle — engage when parked or loading. Pull brake lever to release.
🛡 Safety Guidelines
- Off-Road Use Only: Do not use on public roads or highways
- Front-Load Balance: Best performance occurs with a front load
- Unloaded? Add weight to front (use sandbags or battery box)
- Start Slow: Begin in Low Gear and Low Speed to learn control
- Wear Gear: Helmet and proper footwear recommended
- Inspect Regularly:
- Tire pressure
- Wheel lug nuts
- Brakes and throttle
- Battery charge and corrosion
- No Passengers in cargo bed or side areas
- Age/Skill: Operators must be capable and strong enough to control the unit safely
- No Alcohol/Drugs: Never operate under the influence
